Ms. Marquia Turner

Communication Arts

Ruskin Homework Center
Coordinator

Ms. Turner, CommArts teacher at Ruskin High School, is very passionate about the quality of her students' learning experiences. As a result, Ms. Turner is among the first group of teachers at Ruskin to introduce and integrate Web 2.0 technologies. Ms. Turner guides her students in the creation of podcasts, interacting with the class wiki, and other collaborative technologies that proliferate 21st Century Learning models.

The "turnerclass wiki" recently went "LIVE" to serve as a student knowledge-base for CommArts-4 students, 24/7. The wiki includes: assignments, due dates, study guides, sample quizzes, writing rubrics, student work, and research paper outlines. See an example of how Ms. Turner encourages students to participate by inviting them to create a summary page for, (Night by Elie Wiesel). The information in Ms Turner's wiki can also be aligned to assignments created in the student management system, Infinite Campus. This is also a valuable resource
for parents to stay in the loop of what is happening in classrooms. And, no more excuses about not having assignments or notes from class -- because they're on the wiki!
